Principal at Caddo Parish School Board
2013 - 2014Dr. Russell’s achievements at this school site demonstrate her commitment to academic excellence. Under her leadership, the school improved End-of-Course (ECO) test scores at the high school level. The schools were as follows: Biology EOC scores from 7% proficient in 2012 to 20% proficient in 2013, Algebra EOC scores from 8% proficient in 2012 to 21% proficient in 2013, English II from 44% proficient in 2012 to 43.5% proficient in 2013, English III from 27% proficient in 2012 to 41% proficient in 2013. Dr. Russell also spearheaded initiatives such as Coaches for Math, Credit Recovery, and After-School Tutoring to improve academic achievement. She implemented TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement with fidelity school-wide, and she supervised four formal observations on each faculty member for the 2013-2014 school year with actionable, face-to-face feedback. Dr. Russell coordinated weekly informal observation schedule for administrative team. Lastly, she supervised and/or Managed school budgets, human resources, curriculum programs, and community relation initiatives at the school.

2012 - 2013Dr. Russell served as a change agent for a school labeled academically unacceptable for over 5 years. She demonstrated effective leadership by improving state standardized test scores for 2013 school year as noted from Louisiana Department of Education school report card. As a result of her leadership on this campus, test scores improved in the following areas: 3rd Grade ELA from 45% proficient in 2012 to 76% proficient in 2013, 3rd Grade Math from 61% proficient in 2012 to 84% proficient in 2013, 4th Grade ELA from 55% proficient in 2012 to 78% proficient in 2013, 4th Grade Math from 58% proficient in 2012 to 71% proficient in 2013, 5th Grade Math from 71% proficient in 2012 to 86% proficient in 2013. She analyzed teacher/student data to determine effectiveness of instruction and remediation practices as well as monitored teachers’ data usage to determine push-in, academic services for at-risk students throughout the school day. Dr. Russell created master schedule, which included school-wide intervention time for all students, and she supervised after-school tutoring and Saturday academies. She provided job-embedded professional development to staff members. Dr. Russell conducted formal/informal observations daily and provided direct instructional models for teachers, and she established and maintain an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment. Dr. Russell established procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, clean and safe facilities, and she maintained school budgets and finances.
